With medical marijuana legalized in more than half of the United States, more and more home care and hospice patients are taking it to help them manage a variety of symptoms. We’ve put together a primer to assist home care and hospice clinicians in supporting patients who take medicinal marijuana. As a Schedule I drug, it is considered to be illegal by the Federal government due to its high potential for abuse. However, in States where it has been legalized, following specific guidelines, it can be used medically.

In this post, we’ve included access to a 30-minute e-learning course that provides a comprehensive overview of medical marijuana, as well as a clinical job aid, a patient teaching guide, and a patient journal. If you’ve seen medical marijuana used in home care and hospice, share your experience in the comments below.
